As restorative dentistry solutions, we use full and partial dentures to replace rows and arches of lost teeth. Dentures not only improve the look of the smile but also allow patients to perform regular functions, such as biting and chewing. Our compassionate dental team works with patients to help them find the right restorations to renew the health and appearance of their smiles.
Types of Dentures
There are several types of dentures that we offer in our office. We will discuss your options with you at your next dental appointment:
Partial dentures are similar to dental bridges because they can replace multiple consecutive missing teeth. However, partial dentures may also replace rows of lost teeth that are in different parts of the mouth. Removable partial dentures consist of acrylic false teeth and metal that is secured by natural teeth adjacent to the tooth gap. Partials are a quick fix for missing teeth, but do not stabilize the bite.
For patients who are missing their lower or upper arch of teeth, we recommend full dentures. Traditionally, full dentures are made up of false teeth that are adhered to the gums. But denture adhesive can be messy and does not fully stabilize the denture prosthetic. Even snap-on dentures do not restore full bite function for patients with missing teeth.
For patients who have removable full or partial dentures, we recommend dental implants. Dental implants may be used to secure a partial or full denture. Implants are small titanium metal posts that are strategically placed in the bone tissue of the jaw. They create a stable foundation for prosthetic teeth. Additionally, implants provide a more secure and stable bite, so patients can enjoy the foods they love without any restrictions.
